Questions
Why did you start this blog?
I started this blog because I believe every kid deserves a confident start with money. Too many of us learn about money the hard way which is by making mistakes. My goal is to make financial concepts fun, clear, and practical for families. Whether it is earning from chores, running a lemonade stand, or understanding how money grows, I want to help parents raise financially smart kids who feel capable, curious, and ready for real life. – Charlie
What has been the best book for your financial growth?
The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas Stanley. It completely changed how I think about wealth. Instead of flashy cars and big houses, real wealth comes from consistent savings, smart investing, and living below your means. The stories in that book showed me that most millionaires are ordinary people who quietly built financial freedom, and I want to teach kids that principle too. – Charlie
When did you start your financial journey?
I started buying football cards at a very young age and blew every penny I made on those cards. I started learning at that young age that adults would not take it easy on me just because I was young and give me free cards. I started learning negotiations and how to delay gratification at an early age. I really think delayed gratification is a challenge to teach in our instant access to everything society, but is instrumental in becoming financially successful. – James
What was your worst financial decision?
I had a goal early on to own a certain amount of commercial real estate. I came across a property that had a neat historical story and it was priced at an amount that let me hit that early goal. So, I purchased it even though there were numerous red flags telling me not to buy it (like my wife!). I ended up losing about $20,000 on that purchase after I sold it 2 years later. – James
